Weldon Arvin Stone's Obituary
Stone, Weldon Arvin lived a life dedicated to the church and his family. He passed away October 24, 2014 surrounded by his wife and children. He was preceeded in death by parents James Clifford and Cammie White Stone; and brother Paul Stone and daughter-in-law Tracy Stone. Survived by wife Carol Stone; daughters Cindy Stone and Julie Redmon; sons Kyle Stone; and Joe Stone and wife Tara; grandchildren Jordan, Emily, Hanah, Tanner and Lauren Stone, Merritt, Savannah and Luke Ford, and Rachel and Alex Boudreaux; sister Freta Smith as well as a large extended family. Born on May 7, 1932 in Garden Valley, Texas, he enlisted into the Air Force serving during the Korean War. When he returned home in 1954 he started his education at Tyler Junior College and continued, tranfering to SMU, graduating with honors in 1960 with a degree in Electrical Engineering. During this time he met and married Carolea Morris in 1957. He began his career at Texas Instruments and continued with Varo Semiconductor, E- Systems and upon retirement moved to Athens, Texas. Throughout his life he was dedicated to service in the church always as a deacon, church clerk or committee member serving tirelessly. He continued his church involvement after moving to Athens and served as deacon and with the furniture ministry, mirroring his earlier service in Richardson. He made lifelong friends that always proved steadfast. His family is confident that he is serving again, now in a place of rest and peace. Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 pm, Monday, October 27, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at First Baptist Church Richardson. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75238. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Richardson or First Baptist Church Athens.
