Wellington Curtis “Duke” Cornell PE, 93, entered eternal life by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, Aug 21. Born Oct 20, 1917, Erie PA, son of Emma Kempf & Martin Cornell, MD. Preceded in death by parents, brother Martin Cornell. Woodrow Wilson High Dallas 1934, Texas A&M (BS Mechanical Engineering 1940). He lived for Jesus, loved family, served church/community. Redesigned B-26B bomber WWII. US Army officer 1941-53. Trained 473rd anti-aircraft for D-Day. Overseas 43rd Engineers in Philippines/Japan. Reserves. Married Ruth McGhee. Registered Prof. Engineer projects incl. Temco TT-1 jet trainer, NASA radio eqpt, DFW Airport. Retired Dallas Water Dept. Ruling elder Pres. Church of Amer.; TX board Reformed Univ. Fellowship; Evangelism Explosion trainer; member New St. Peter’s Pres. Church; Volunteers on Patrol. Survived by wife of 63 years, Ruth Cornell, daughter Susan Bauer & husb. Gary, son Paul Curtis Cornell, niece Karen Cornell, nephew Martin Cornell & wife Carole, granddaughters Sara Wolf (husb. Jared) & Claire Miller (husb. Carl), 5 great-grandchildren, special friends Richard Hom, Christine Sanchez. Visitation Thurs 6-8p Restland. Burial Fri 11:15a DFW Nat’l Cemetery.
