He married Carol Ann Weinberger on September 4, 1950, at the Congregational Church in Mott, North Dakota and just celebrated 73 years of marriage.
Wes was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army at the rank of Corporal from 1951 – 1953 and received a National Defense Service Medal. He worked for Northwestern Bell Telco from 1954 to 1959 while attending Minot State Teacher’s College from 1954 – 1956. He graduated from North Dakota State University in 1959 with an Electrical Engineering Degree. After graduation the family moved to Dallas, Texas and he went to work for Collins Radio from 1959 – 1970. During his time at Collins, Wes was chief engineer, and he traveled around the world working on the installation of antenna arrays that were used for communication and tracking during NASA’s Apollo Mission. While working for Collins, he graduated from SMU with a master’s degree in engineering management in 1968. He taught and was Dean of Faculty at DeVry Institute from 1970 – 1974. Wes believed in salvation through Jesus Christ who died for all people and was resurrected. He loved and prayed for his family daily. He was an active member and supporter of the Church of the Nazarene for seventy-five years, serving as a treasurer, Sunday School teacher, and board member. Wes would step up to serve wherever his abilities could be of help, such as working on the church bus, assisting in church construction, and numerous other areas of service. Outside of his church and family, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and playing games with family. He would often say he was having a bad week if he didn’t go fishing.
