Wilhelmine Elmira Mitchell's Obituary
Wilhelmine Elmira Lewis Mitchell, 96 years old, passed peacefully into the hands of her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 7, 2021. She was a longtime resident of Garland, Texas. Pamela was born January 3, 1925 in Atchison, Kansas, to Marley Clinton Lewis and Anna Marie Wagner. She married William (Bill) Vernon Mitchell on January 31, 1942. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill celebrating 72 years of marriage before his death in 2013. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church since 1951 and served in many positions. Both were very civic minded and volunteered extensively. They served Meals on Wheels for many years. She was a charter volunteer of the Ladies Auxiliary of Memorial Hospital and served 50 years as a volunteer. She also served as a volunteer Chaplain at the hospital which later was Baylor Scott and White of Garland. She knit, crocheted, quilted, oil painting donating her crafts to family, friends, and charities. She played bridge, traveled the world plus all 50 states in the U.S.
She is survived by 4 children, Daughter, Rose Ann Burke; sons, Steve Mitchell, David Mitchell, and Don Mitchell; daughter-in-laws, Martha Minnerly Mitchell, and Pat Hipe Mitchell; son-in-law, Philip Burke; grandchildren, Lisa Meador, Trey Meador (Allison), Matthew Mitchell (Renee), D.J. Ortman (Kevin), Samuel Mitchell (Jen), Jonathan Mitchell (Katy), Joshua Mitchell (Tiffany), Sarah Robins, and Elise Goad (Bryan); and 33 great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held in July.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in her memory to the First Presbyterian Church of Garland, 930 West Avenue B, Garland, Texas 75040.
