Willard Jerry Goolsby of Dallas passed away on January 4, 2018 after a long illnessJerry was born on November 14, 1933 to Willard and Dorothy Goolsby in Cason, Texas. He was their only child.He attended school in Cason, Texas and Daingerfield, Texas. He graduated from high school when he was sixteen years old. He worked as a plumber’s helper until he was old enough to join the Air Force. He served four years in the Air Force and four years in the Air Force Active Reserve. He was stationed at Carswell Air Force base in Fort Worth, Texas. He spent some time in North Africa during the Korean War.Jerry married Roberta Hazel from Kermit, Texas on February 19, 1955 in Dallas, Texas at Oak Knoll Baptist Church in Oak Cliff.Jerry accepted Christ as his Savior in December 1955 at Oak Knoll Baptist Church, Dallas, Texas.Jerry attended Arlington State College (now University of Texas at Arlington) in Arlington, Texas. He graduated in 1961 with a B.A. degree. While going to college he worked as a carpenter with his Dad for Hugh Davis Home Builder.Jerry and his dad started Goolsby Custom Homes, and they built many homes. Most of the homes were built in Lake Highlands. Other businesses he owned were Custom Floors in Dallas, Elmwood Nursing Center in Marlin, Texas, and Dallas Skies in Addison, Texas.Jerry was a very caring, generous person, and helped anyone that needed help.The family is thankful that he is at rest in Heaven.Jerry is survived by his wife, Roberta Goolsby; daughters, Debra Hancock and Dawn Goolsby; three granddaughters; and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willard and Dorothy Goolsby; and son in law John Hancock.An open visitation will be on Wednesday, January 10 at Restland Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at Northlake Baptist Church, 10110 McCree Rd. Dallas, Texas 75238, on January 11, 2018 at 11:30 AM. Graveside service will be on Friday, January 12 at 3 PM in Restland Cemetery.If desired, memorials may be made to Northlake Baptist Church.
