Willem Willemstyn's Obituary
Willem Willemstyn, 83, Presbyterian Village, Dallas, passed away early Saturday morning, January 15, 2011 in the presence of his loving wife of 58 years, Nettie. Bill and Nettie have been residents of Dallas for many years. Bill was born on August 5, 1927, and grew up in Holland. He met Nettie at a ballroom dancing school in Rotterdam. Bill served in the Dutch Army for two and one-half years, assigned to Indonesia from 1947-1950. Bill and Nettie married March 20, 1952, in Rotterdam and later that afternoon boarded a ship for New Orleans, LA., where he earned his Bachelor’s in Business Administration at Tulane University. He received his Master’s in Business Administration in Finance at Southern Methodist University, in Dallas, TX. He is survived by relatives in Holland; niece, Jeanette Verheul, her husband Jacob and their two precious children, Hanneke and Freek, as well as his nephew, Jan Willem Hoornweg; his niece, Lucienne Willemstyn. Bill worked in the oil industry in New Orleans, LA; Houston, TX; Atlanta, GA; New York City, NY. and Dallas, TX. Bill enjoyed swimming, bird-watching, and the company of companions who met for many years after retirement at a local coffee shop. Bill retired as Vice-President for Audit from American Petro Fina. A Memorial Service will be held at the Wildwood Chapel on Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. A reception will follow the service at Restland Funeral Home.
