William Donald Alvis' Obituary
William D. “Bill” Alvis, b. June 3, 1934 d. September 22, 2018 in Richardson, TX. Born on June 3, 1934 in Dallas, and a resident of Plano, TX for over 40 years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Nancy Cloud Alvis, and his parents, Thomas E. and Mary S. Alvis.A 1956 graduate of Texas A&M, he also served in the Army. A career accountant, he also volunteered his time to the Cub Scouts and as a docent at the Heritage Farmstead Museum. An avid hunter and fisherman, he also enjoyed traveling with his wife Nancy, visiting places as far away as Red Square in Moscow, Russia. A life-long learner, he pursued his interest in history and anthropology through classes at the local community college.He is survived by one brother, Mark Alvis and his wife Elsie, of College Station; one sister, Mary Glass Burleson and her husband David, of El Paso; two daughters, Susan Alvis Damon and her husband Steve of San Antonio, and Sharon Alvis, also of San Antonio; one son, Mike Alvis of Plano. Also survived by three grandchildren, Vincent DePena, Jessica Damon, and Samuel Damon, and numerous nieces and nephews.A gathering for Mr. Alvis will commence on October 6, 2018 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at Restland Funeral Home.
