William Dabney Asher's Obituary
Went to be with his Lord at 12:00pm on October 8, 2008 at the age of 90. He is survived by his wife, Norma Jo Asher, his four children Kathy Bedford, Anne Eager, Marshall Asher, and Joellen Knochel, and his sister Fern Elizabeth Frisbie. Bill’s children are all married and have given him 14 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Born on September 18, 1918 in Murchison, Texas, Bill was one of five children, 3 brothers and two sisters. His family prized faith in God, hard work, and education. Bill worked to finance his chemical engineering degree from the University of Texas, where he met and married his college sweetheart, Norma Jo Greene. He joined the Navy in 1945, serving as Petty Officer First Class until the end of World War II. He worked for ARCO for 35 years. Bill was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Plano for 40 years. Bill’s family cherishes their memories of his beautiful whistling, expert softball coaching (four league champion-ships), faithfulness, and his rock solid integrity. Well done, good and faithful servant! Funeral services will be held at 10:00am with visitation 1 hour prior to service, Monday, October 13, 2008 at First United Methodist Church in Plano.
