Dr. William Kenneth Barnard's Obituary
BARNARD, PH.D., DR. WILLIAM KENNETH passed away Sunday, April 7, 2013 in Dallas. Dr. Barnard was born February 1, 1933 in Rugby, Red River County; Texas, son of the late William Harold Barnard and Lucy Pearl Moore Barnard. He served three years in the U. S: Army as a Counterintelligence Agent. His career was in the field of Human Resources. He was the Manager of Employee Relations for Texas Pacific Oil Company at the time it was acquired by Sun Oil Co. He joined Sun Oil Company, holding various positions in Human Resources till the divisions of Sun Oil, and its successor in oil and gas exploration and production, Oryx Energy Company, retiring from that Company in 1992. Dr. Barnard was a graduate of Paris Junior College, The University of Texas, and North Texas State University, acquiring a Ph.D. degree from the latter in 1978. He was a member of the Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology, the American Psychological Association, and various business and professional organizations, and of MENSA. Dr. Barnard was an avid genealogist and was a member of the First Families of Texas, Sons of the Republic of Texas, Sons of the American Revolution, Society of Mayflower Descendants, the Somerset Chapter of the Magna Charta Barons, and the Colonial Order of the Crown. He was married to the late Ruth Castillo Flores Barnard. He is survived by his son, Stephen Harold Barnard; his daughter, Patricia Sue Barnard Bauernfeind and her husband, Col. Tony Bauernfeind; a grandson, Drake Alexander Barnard Bauernfeind, and by a number of nephews and one niece. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to White Rock United Methodist Church, 1450 Oldgate Lane, Dallas, TX 75218. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM, Saturday, April 13, 203 at Restland Memorial Park.
