William Warner Bayless Sr.'s Obituary
BAYLESS, SR., WILLIAM WARNER Born May 23, 1923 in Texarkana, AR and passed away March 9, 2009 in Dallas, TX. Visitation will be 2:00-3:00 PM, Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at Restland Funeral Home with a graveside service following at 3:00 PM in Restland Memorial Park. Bill passed peacefully into the arms of the Lord on Monday March 9, 2009 after a brief hospital stay. Bill’s career was spent in the corrugated box business as a sales manager for the Southwestern Region for Crown Zellerbach Corporation. He retired in 1987. Bill was born in Texarkana , Arkansas to Joseph and Gladys Bayless. He graduated from Texarkana High and then served in the European Theater of WWII for three and a half years. After the war, Bill attended Texas A&M and SMU universities. Bill was a longtime member of Lovers Lane United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Adult Forum at church and enjoyed driving for and volunteering his help for the older adult ministry. Later in life, Bill was a partner and business owner in a truck export/sales company. Bill enjoyed playing golf and was an avid sportsman, everything from hunting and water skiing with his son and family to attending every kind of sporting event imaginable. He was a constant companion to his loving wife, Dorothy for 58 years. Bill was a beloved husband, father and grandfather. Poppy loved spending time with his only grandaughter, Christy. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy, his son Bill Jr., daughter- in- law Pam and granddaughter Christy. He will be greatly missed!
