William "Bill" David Hooper Sr.'s Obituary
Mr. William ‘Bill’ David Hooper, Sr., age 89, passed away on September 22, 2021, in Flower Mound, Texas. He was born to William Walter Hooper and Emma Belle (Huffman) Hooper on April 15, 1932, in Pittsburg County, Oklahoma. He will be sincerely missed by his loving family, devoted friends, and all the wonderful individuals who knew and loved him.
Bill was in the United States Army, part of the 1st Guided Missile Group during the Korean War. He earned the rank of Sargent during his time in the armed forces. In 1955, he married Doris Jane Gillam in Dallas, Texas. Bill spent the majority of his career as a real estate broker. He leaves unforgettable memories and loving stories. He also enjoyed dancing and being involved in multiple organizations and charity work. Here is just a glimpse of his various memberships and associations: Licensed Texas Real Estate Broker since 1964 (also previously licensed in Oklahoma and Kansas); MetroTex Association of Realtors (Formerly Greater Dallas Board of Realtors); Texas Association of Realtors; National Association of Realtors; Commercial and Industrial Division of MetroTex Association of Realtors – Certified Commercial Investment Member CCIM & North Texas Commercial Association of Realtors NTCAR; Dallas 40 Businessman’s Club; Texas Apartment Association; National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers – President in 1978; Dallas Chamber of Commerce; Former Vice President and Director of the Dallas Junior Chamber of Commerce; Member of the East Dallas Masonic Lodge #1200, AF & AM (Formerly: A.C. Garrett Masonic Lodge); Scottish Rite; Hella Shrine Temple Garland, Texas; Shriner High Noon (Former President of Dallas Group); Dallas Baptist College Sustaining Fund Raising; Lions Club; Toastmasters; Heritage Foundation; The State Fair of Texas Livestock Committee; Volunteered for the March of Dimes; Dallas Ski Club; and Who’s Who International.
Bill is preceded in death by his former wife, Doris Jane Hooper; parents, William Walter and Emma Belle Hooper; brother, Harley Lee Hooper; sisters, Joy Hooper, Infant Hooper, Mary Lee Bowen, Betty Jo Martin, Mildred Ann ‘Nanny’ Blood, Joyce Marie Johnston; and son, Michael Lynn Hooper.
He will be lovingly remembered by his son, William David Hooper, Jr. and his wife Linda; grandchildren, William “Trey” David Hooper III and Samantha Leigh Hart, and her husband Robert. Also, his great grandchildren, Adeline Jane Hart and William Robert Hart. His memory will also be cherished by his three “adopted daughters”, Diana Kay Campos, Nancy Jean Black, and Mary Elizabeth Farley, nieces who he and Doris raised after the death of their mother. He will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Monday, October 4, 2021, from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at Restland Funeral Home. The Funeral Service will be on Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at 2:00pm in the Memorial Chapel – Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75243.
