William Carroll Blake's Obituary
William Carroll Blake was born on December 19, 1954 at Methodist Hospital in Oak Cliff, Texas and was taken unexpectedly too soon on the weekend of February 6, 2017 while at his home in Fate, Texas at the age of 62. Carroll is proceeded in death by his mother, Bobbie Sue Ward and survived by his three daughters, Nicole Mae Blake and her husband Ben Harris, Michelle Dawn Blake, and Desiree Suzanne Blake and her boyfriend Mike Kozlowski, his two grandchildren, Jonathan Thomas Harris and Breanna Paige Harris, his best friend and former wife, Cindy Ann Smith, his father Aubrey Carroll Blake, brother Mark Blake and sister Deborah Barber and their families. Carroll loved spending time with his family especially going to sporting games played by his children and grandson. Coaching his girls was one of the many highlights in Carroll’s life, he coached them in soccer, softball, t-ball, and basketball. With his involvement in coaching he impacted many of his players lives and as they grew up they enjoyed seeing and talking to Coach Carroll on the sideline after games or in the classroom and even to this day he has left many memorable moments with those he has coached over the years. Carroll’s signature look was his vivacious white beard and big belly. He always had his black Ray-Ban sunglasses, bandanna, hat, large cup with a two-liter bottle of Diet Coke or Diet Dr. Pepper, trident gum that was bubble gum flavor, hairbrush, and his medicine lunch box in tow wherever he went. His grandchildren also knew when they would see Papa he would happily give them gum. Carroll loved to eat Hershey milk chocolates, ice cream cones from sonic, sweet tarts, chocolate covered fruit, pistachios, and other nuts. There was never a dull moment when Carroll was around. He created contagious laughter that filled rooms and could break any silence by telling jokes or laughing at himself when trying to tell a story about something that happened or that he heard or saw. You could almost guarantee that any conversation with him had the potential of lasting at least 10 minutes so you always wanted to make sure to have plenty of time to talk to him and it would take at least a handful of “I love you, byes”, or “love byes” to hang up that guaranteed an ending laugh to the conversation. We would laugh at how quickly Dad would fall asleep and then wake up laughing asking if he was sleeping or snoring. Carroll was so proud of his girls and grandchildren and all their accomplishments and for growing up to be good kids. He took pride in meeting anyone who would listen so he could show them off and tell stories about their successes and how proud of each one of them he was. Successful, passionate, and talented in his own ways Carroll graduated from Mesquite High School class of 1972 where he went on to continue his education becoming a licensed Master Plumber and working for the Union until his injury disabled him to continue to work for the Union, but for the love for his trade he continued his plumbing education and kept his license current and active for anyone needing help. Carroll also raised emus in the 1990’s at his home in Fate and collected and worked on classic trucks and cars as one of his favorite hobbies since being a young man. Another favorite hobby Carroll had was bass fishing. He told great stories of memories fishing on Lake Whitney and Lake Fork that went with the fish he had hanging on the walls in his home. Teaching his children and grandchildren to fish and properly bait a hook and set a line brought so much joy to him. He truly loved to fish, but loved it even more when he was fishing with his family. A lot of his time fishing with his family was spent at his former-in-laws, Thomas Painter, Doris Presley, and Gary Presley’s lake house on Club Howell Lake. He had a passion for country music and Rock N Roll, Led Zeppelin was one of his favorite rock bands. He would love to ride in his truck with the windows rolled down, playing the music loudly while singing along and playing his air guitar. We know that Carroll is up in Heaven pain free and healthy, racing his favorite classic cars, and catching the biggest largemouth bass he can find with God while keeping close watch and ensuring his presence is felt by his eternal love for his family.
