William Henry "Boots" Brown's Obituary
Brown, William Henry “Boots” 89, passed away early Sunday, April 12, 2009 in Austin as a result of complications from a fall at his home. He and his wife, Beulah “Cotton” Brown had moved to a retirement facility in Austin in October of last year after living most of their lives in the Collin County, Texas area. Boots, as he was known affectionately by both family and friends, was born April 18, 1919 in Allen. He was a descendent of the Brown and Carpenter families, early pioneers of Allen, Plano and Collin County. He retired from Continental Emsco in 1985. Boots was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Arrington Brown and Annie Kate Carpenter Brown, and by seven sisters and one brother. He married Cotton Hooper May 31, 1941, a union that lasted more than 67 years. In addition to his wife, survivors include nieces and nephews: Doris and John Tate, Greenville; Sue and Robert Shrader, Austin; Ann Melton, Allen; Beth and Lyndon Heffernan, Allen; and other great nieces and nephews; all of whom he loved dearly. Boots never met a stranger, or at least they weren’t strangers very long. He loved to tell stories and was a demon at the domino table, using experience and natural skills to vanquish all opponents. He was a member of the Forest Grove Christian Church in Lucas. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to the Forest Grove Christian Church, P.O. Box 961, Allen, Texas 75013 or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Funeral Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at Restland Memorial Chapel, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas. Visitation with the family is scheduled at the same location, starting at 10 a.m.
