William Stuart Chase's Obituary
William Stuart Chase died December 7, 2015 in Plano, Texas. Bill was born September 16, 1929 in Omaha, Nebraska and grew up in Kansas City, Mo. where he attended grade school and Southwest high school after which he attended the University of Missouri in Columbia where he was a Sigma Chi. He served proudly in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. He was a 33rd degree Master Mason receiving his fifty year pin in 2002. Bill was in the textile business his entire working career moving from Kansas City to Chicago in 1959 and to Dallas in 1974. He was preceded in death by his parents Stuart and Margaret Mahaffey Chase, sister Diana, and sons Andrew, Jeffrey, and Steven, and his beloved wife Jo. Surviving are his daughter Suzanne Chase Osborne, son-in-law Bob Osborne and grandson Jeffrey Philip Osborne of New York City: granddaughters Kimberly and Kristine Chase of Kansas City, and sister Donna Byers and son-in-law Rick Byers of Houston. Children that Jo Chase brought to the marriage in 1978 are John and Gwen Taylor of Charlotte, N.C., Cliff and Julie Baker of Richmond, VA and Ron Thompson of Mt. Pleasant, TX. and many grandchildren. Bill underwent back surgery and was confined to a wheelchair the last ten years of his life. He was very grateful for his faithful caregiver of 6 ½ years, Gladys Zhakata. A Masonic graveside service with military honors is planned for 12:30 pm, Monday, December 28, 2015 in the Masonic Section at Restland Memorial Park located at 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75243. A cemetery map is available on this website or can be picked up at the information booth at the main entrance to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made, in Mr. Chase’s honor, to the National Alliance on Mental Illness at http://www.nami.org/ .
