William "Bill" Crepeau's Obituary
In loving memory of William (“Bill”) Michael Crepeau. Bill passed away peacefully at home on March 24, 2023 with his wife, son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren by his side.
Bill started life on December 5, 1934 in Houston. Born to Helen and Roy Crepeau, a WWI veteran. The Crepeau family moved to San Antonio shortly after Bill's birth before eventually settling in Tulsa, OK . While in Tulsa, Bill would go on to graduate from Will Rogers High School and The University of Tulsa where he received a bachelor’s degree in business management. At the University of Tulsa Bill was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. A bond he would later share with his grandson, Austin ('14). Bill's time in Tulsa would be fondly regarded by him throughout the rest of his life. Upon graduation Bill moved to Dallas with the Sears, Roebuck Company. Early in his career Bill served in the Naval Reserves. Stationed out of Carswell Naval Air Station for 8 years, Bill would be honorably discharged at the rank of Quartermaster in 1961. While in Dallas, he would meet his wife, Jayne. They were married in 1959 and would remain happily married for the rest of his life. They have one son, Michael. Bill worked for Sears for over 30 years, merchandising and managing multiple divisions before leaving to cofound Charter Furniture Rental with his son Michael and wife Jayne in 1983. Charter Furniture recently celebrated 40 years in business in 2023; an achievement he was enormously proud of.
Bill was a passionate sportsman and entertainer throughout his life. He was quick with his wit and always in the company of good friends and family. He enjoyed golf, skiing, and fishing; passions he would pass down to the rest of his family. He was a proud member of Preston Trail Golf Club and Prestonwood Country Club where he was a member for over 25 years. Bill was active Christian, practicing at St. Andrews Methodist Church and a patron of St. Jude's Children's Hospital for his entire adult life.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Helen Crepeau, and his siblings, Kenneth Crepeau, Ruth Kuburski and Geraldine Johnson.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jayne Brown Crepeau, his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Diane Crepeau, and his grandchildren, Austin and Katie Crepeau.
