William H. “Bill” Dunford
March 23, 1938 – August 22, 2025
William H. “Bill” Dunford was born on March 23, 1938, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Martha Irene and Harold Dunford. He passed away peacefully on August 22, 2025, while at Encompass Rehab in Plano, Texas.
Bill grew up in Oklahoma City and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Oklahoma. He married Allison Kearney, on August 27, 1961. Together, they built a life filled with love and purpose. Bill retired from Lucent Technologies/AT&T in Mesquite, Texas.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Scott William Dunford (1982), his wife Allison (2010), and his second wife Carolyn Grubb Dunford (May 2025), whom he married in 2012.
Bill is survived by his daughter, Stacey Dunford Mason, and her husband Eric of Plano, Texas. He was a cherished “Papa” to Scott Stafford Mason and his wife Haley of Katy, Texas (great-grandson Rowan Scott Mason), Chandler Mason Tracy and her husband Colin of Austin, Texas (great-grandson Mason Oliver Tracy), Noah Dunford Mason of Plano, and Emma Jaynes Mason of Plano.
He is also survived by his brother Larry Newton Dunford and wife Sally of Burton, Texas, along with many loving nieces and nephews.
A faithful member of St. Marks Methodist Church in Mesquite for over 50 years, Bill served in numerous roles, including as a member of the choir. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, his dedication to his faith, and his love of family.
Bill was an avid golfer, a licensed irrigation specialist who enjoyed installing and repairing sprinkler systems, and a passionate gardener. He had a well-known fondness for apple pie.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
