William Robert Evans Jr.'s Obituary
EVANS, JR., WILLIAM “BILL” ROBERT (85) of Dallas, TX, passed away the morning of December 13, 2011 in Dallas, after a brief illness. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. this Friday, December 16, 2011 at the Memorial Chapel of the Restland Cemetery, located on Greenville Ave in Dallas. Funeral Services will be held the next morning at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, December 17, 2011, also at the Memorial Chapel; burial will follow immediately at the conjoined cemetery. The Reverend Dick Atkinson will officiate. Bill was born to William Robert “Rob” and Tulah Evans on June 22, 1926 in Forney, TX. He grew up in the farmlands of the Forney, Kaufman and Warsaw areas of Texas. Bill served honorably in the Army Air Forces during the end of World War II and slightly beyond. He graduated from Texas Tech with a degree in accounting in 1951 and lived in Midland for several years, working as a business manager for an independent drilling company. Soon after his arrival in Dallas, he met and married Helen Hancock, the love of his life. Immediately thereafter, he led them on a whirlwind tour of the the world as he accepted a position with a petroleum company located in Libya. Upon returning to Texas, Bill began working for and with Ray Hargrove & his son Steve as they built up Hargrove Electric. His passion for work at Hargrove for the next 44 years literally kept him active until the day he fell ill. Bill and Helen had three sons, William Robert III “Robert”, Jon, and Paul Matthew. He is predeceased by his mother, father and sister, Jerra Gross. Helen and Bill were married for 31 years until her death in 1995. Survivors include his sons Robert, Jon and wife Angelica, and Paul and wife Tara, as well as his precocious grandsons Jackson and Lincoln. He is also survived by his sister Jody Fleming and multiple nephews. Bill was a member of the Seminar Class at White Rock Methodist Church for 35 years.
