William Houston Fuqua's Obituary
William Houston Fuqua born August 27th,1929 passed away peacefully on January 1, 2013 at Lafayette General Hospital. He is preceded in death by his parents, Paul Houston Fuqua and Esther Jewel McGuire Fuqua and his son, Patrick Barry Fuqua. After graduation from Highland Park High School, he attended Texas A&M, where he was a member of the football program, University of Texas and completed his degree at North Texas State University. Mr. Fuqua received a bronze star for his valiant service to our country in the Korean War as part of the 2nd infantry Division, 38th Infantry/K company. Post his service to our country, Mr. Fuqua resided in Lafayette, Louisiana since 1957 where he enjoyed a long career in the oil and gas industry as a land man. He is survived by three children, Brenda Fuqua Owens, wife of Daniel Webster Owens, Jr, William Paul Fuqua, and Kay Fuqua Lohman, wife of Jeffery Dean Lohman, as well as seven grandchildren, Jacob Daniel Owens, Sr, his wife Stacy Welty Owens, Courtney Marie Owens, Luke Jeffery Lohman, Isabella Jewel Lohman, Amy Lynn Fuqua and Sophie Margarette Fuqua and great grandson Jacob Daniel Owens, Jr.
