William Dale Hadley's Obituary
HADLEY, WILLIAM DALE passed away on May 11, 2013, at Briarcliff Health Center in Greenville, Texas. He was born on July16, 1930, in Kansas City, Missouri and adopted by Albert William Hadley and Dorothy Mabel Banta Hadley of Ridgefarm, IL. William was named after his father and his mother’s brother, Dale Banta. His artistic bent surfaced as a child in his ability to draw, paint, and play the piano. From Illinois the family relocated to Ottumwa, Iowa, where Bill graduated 7th in his class in June of 1948. He was a member of the Ottumwa High School Honor Society, Debate Club, and Dramatic Club. It was then that Bill’s interest in business emerged as he served as Business Manager of the yearbook. Bill began college at the University of Iowa in Iowa City. He enlisted in the Air Force for a brief period. After receiving a medical discharge, Bill finished his Bachelors in Business Administration with a Minor in Marketing in 1953 at the University of Miami. He was a member of Sigma Nu fraternity there. Bill provided for his family for 40 years as a buyer and salesman for Sears, Sanger-Harris, Saks, and Neiman-Marcus. When he wasn’t working, he enjoyed spending time with his wife, Jo, and two daughters, Sheria and Susan. Bill was an avid gardener and was known for his roses, gladiolus, and tropical flowers. He was a dog lover throughout his life. Bill worshipped at Presbyterian churches wherever he lived and was a member of the Big Brothers organization. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jo Sheria. Bill is survived by his daughters, Sheria Baylus and husband, Adam, Susan Slinkard and husband, Gary; granddaughters, Katherine and Erin Traylor, and grandsons, Stephen Traylor, Caleb, Joshua, and Nathan Slinkard. He was laid to rest at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas. Donations in his memory can be made to the James 1 Ministry of FBC Greenville, 2703 Wesley St., Greenville, TX 75401, an organization making adoptions affordable to families and offering support to the existing foster and adoptive community of Hunt County, TX. Service will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 3:00 PM at Restland Abbey Chapel with visitation 1 hour prior to service.
