William A. Haynes' Obituary
HAYNES, WILLIAM A., 87, died after a brief illness on December 10, 2012. The eldest of two children, Alex was born in Eustis, NE on February 10, 1925 to Margaret Hess and James D. Haynes. His early life on a farm during the Depression helped to shape his everlasting appreciation of hard work and animals. Upon graduation from high school in 1943, Alex joined the war effort by enlisting in the US Coast Guard. In 1945, he met the love of his life and future bride, Evalyn Penner, at a dance in Hastings, NE. At the end of the war, he continued to serve in the Coast Guard and became a pioneer in the field of air and sea rescue. Following his military service, Alex began a professional career in 1953 with McKesson & Robbins Drug Company in San Diego, CA. His career with McKesson spanned over 40 years and eventually led to his family’s relocation to Richardson, TX, where he resided until his death. Upon retirement from McKesson in 1994, Alex pursued his long-standing passions for gardening and fine woodworking. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Evalyn Penner Haynes; his three daughters, Crystal Haynes (Joel Hamilton), Kelley Haynes, and Stephanie Haynes (Douglas Horn); and grandson, Sean Smith. Alex was a loving husband, a caring father, and a generous friend who will be missed by all. Services will be held at Restland Wildwood Chapel in Dallas at 12:30 pm on Wednesday, December 19, 2012.
