"W W" William Wadley Houston's Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of William Wadley Houston, a beloved son, father, and Marine Corps veteran, on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at the age of 76. Born to Horace Ben & Altamary (Pud) Houston-Love, in Dallas,TX. W.W. was a proud alumni of Sunset High School, class of 67’. After high school, following in his fathers footsteps, William enlisted and served his country for 27 years as a member of the United States Marine Corps, embodying the core values of honor, courage, and commitment throughout his life.
William’s distinguished military career took him to Vietnam, Okinawa, Japan & Saudi Arabia (Desert Storm), where he served with unwavering dedication to his fellow Marines and the nation he loved. His exemplary service earned him the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/3, Vietnam Campaign medal, Combat Action Ribbon, RVNMUC Gallantry Cross w/palm & frame. Upon retiring, W.W. continued to make an impact in his community in Dallas Texas, sharing his wisdom, discipline, and humor with all who knew him.
Beyond his service, W.W. was a devoted son, father & friend. W.W. was preceded in death by his father, former Texas State Representative Horace B. Houston; mother Altamary (Pud) Houston-Love;Brother Clay Houston; Grandson Logan Houston Boyce.
He is survived by his sister Laurie Houston of Bradenton, FL; Daughter Susan Boyce & son in law Lance Boyce of Houston,TX; Son Chuck Houston & daughter in law Brandi Houston of Mesquite, TX: Daughter Jan Reed & son in law Tyson Reed of Upstate, NY; Daughter Barbara Ann (B.A.) Houston of Nashville, TN; Grandchildren Morgan Davidson, Linken Houston & Lawsen Houston of Mesquite TX; Abigail Boyce, Peyton Boyce, & Walker Boyce of Houston,TX; Niece Logan Reliford of Las Vegas,NV; and countless friends who cherished his quick wit and mischievous sense of humor.
A celebration of W.W’s life will be held on Wednesday, March 26, 2025.
Historic Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas,TX 75243, Memorial service at 14:00 (2pm) with full military tribute.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in W.W.’s name (William W. Houston USMC) to the National Coalition for Homeless Veterans at nchv.org.
