William Kirk Johnson Jr.'s Obituary
JOHNSON, JR., WILLIAM KIRK Surrounded by his loving family, Kirk passed peacefully into his Father’s arms on Wednesday, July 7, 2010. Kirk was born in Kansas City, Missouri on January 24, 1936 to Kirk and Ella Johnson. Kirk attended the Peacock Military Academy in San Antonio. He earned a degree in architecture from the University of Texas, Austin. He began his career as an architect at Atlee B. Ayres in San Antonio prior to moving to Dallas to join the Oglesby Group. He later founded Kirk Johnson Associates in Dallas. In a distinguished career spanning over forty years, Kirk left an indelible mark on the architecture of the region including projects for Richland College, UT Southwestern Medical School, The American Heart Association, Greenhill School, and the San Antonio Public Library. Kirk loved the Lord. His faith was the focus of his life. He is survived by his wife of 14 years, Dr. Ayten Pardue Johnson and preceded in death by his wife of 40 years, Evangeline Sue Johnson. He is survived by his daughters; Kim Johnson Zerwekh (Tom) and their children Katelynn, Megan, Jameson, Carson, and Edwin; Lori Johnson Baker (David) and their children Avery and Evan; Lisa Johnson Sertner and her children Kyle and Graham; and Pam Johnson Smithey (Les). He is also survived by Dr. Pardue Johnson’s children; Suzan Lee MacLellan and her children Adam (Marie), Rebekah, and Prisilla; Donald Francis MacLellan; Gregory Alexander MacLellan; Semra Lynn MacLellan-Fendee (Earl) and her children Spencer and Alex. A visitation will be held at Restland Funeral Home from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 11. A memorial service will be held at Park Cities Presbyterian Church at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 12. Interment will be at the Goodman Cemetery near Medina, Texas.
