Bill "Snoopy" Johnson's Obituary
It is with deep sadness that we announce that William Arnold (Bill/Snoopy) Johnson passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 3rd, at the age of 90, after a short illness. Bill was born July 29, 1933, in Chicago, IL to William and Kathleen Johnson. He eloped and married his high school sweetheart, Marjorie, in December of 1953. They had a loving and devoted marriage which spanned 64 years. She predeceased him in 2017.
Bill joined the US Air Force in 1951, right after High School graduation. After an honorable discharge he went to Southeast Missouri State University, finishing a 4-year curriculum in 2 years and 6 months, graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science with majors in Math and Physics and a minor in Chemistry. He later continued his education attending Southern Methodist University where he earned a Master’s degree in Systems Engineering. His education served him well as he joined Texas Instruments (TI) in 1959 where he worked for 37 years. He had an extremely successful career, authored several papers, earned many promotions, and traveled the world.
Bill was known for his long, entertaining stories, which he loved to write about. Short stories, poems and rhymes about his life were his favorite and he completed two hardcover books to pass along to his family.
Bill / Dad / Snoopy is survived by his children, Linda and her husband Mike Donlon of Rowlett, TX, Joyce and her husband Dirk Ten Eyck of McKinney, TX, Sheri and her husband Kelley Wood of Leander, TX and Jim and his wife Jonni Johnson of Garland, TX.
Also known as Papaw, he is survived by nine grandchildren: Lori and her husband David Nicaud, Christy and her husband Richard Edwards, Carrie and her husband Jose Gaytan, Kristen and her husband Chris Freis, Stephen and his wife Laura Ten Eyck, Ashley and her husband Mike Silva, Andrew and his wife Dawn Wood, Lauren and her partner Garrett Holmes and Kayla and her fiancé Robert East.
Papaw is also blessed with eight great-grandchildren: David Nicaud Jr, Emma Edwards, Alyssa Gaytan, Mia Gaytan, Vera Rose Gaytan, Harrison Freis, Hayley Silva, and coming soon in April, Baby “Sapling” Wood.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at Restland Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, in the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home with Chaplain Mike MacKrell officiating. Burial at Restland Memorial Park will follow the funeral service.
The family will gather at Linda’s home in Rowlett after the burial and friends are welcome to join us.
