William Paul Kanelos' Obituary
Born March 7, 1924 of Greek immigrant parents George A. Kanelos and Stella Vamvakitis in St. Joseph, MO. Bill is a graduate of Dallas Tech High School, and graduated from SMU in 1945; in 1948 he went to work for the Magnolia Petroleum Company, which we now know as Mobil Oil Corp. He was a life member of the Order of AHEPA, and a member of Alpha Kappa Psi honorary fraternity; a life member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and a founding member of the St. Basil’s Day Celebration. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, painting, and spending time with friends. Bill is survived by his beloved sister, Helen Kanelos of Dallas; cousin, Sophia K. Paparonis of Oklahoma City; and cousins, Nick, Jim, Mike, Peter and Bill Petropoulakis and Eleni P. Rodopoulou, all of Greece. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 pm, Monday, January 26, 2009 at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 13555 Hillcrest Rd, Dallas, TX 75240. The funeral service will be Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at 10:00 am at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, with interment to follow in Restland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
