William Earl Messer's Obituary
MESSER, WILLIAM A loving grandfather and devoted father passed away Sunday, March 2, 2008 in Plano, Texas, with his family by his side. He was born and raised in Tyler, Texas on July 25, 1930 to William Ralph and Laura Pearl (Pledger) Messer. He married Daphine Beam on December 17, 1955, and they lovingly raised their family in Richardson, TX. He was an Eagle Scout and served as a scout leader. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, and enjoyed serving at VFW Post 3530. He worked for the IRS for 35 years. He was an active member of the First United Methodist Church Richardson, TX where he was an usher for many years and enjoyed attending the adult Sunday school class. He is loved and survived by his children and their spouses, Andy and Dreama Messer of Frisco, and Dawne and Kevin Niethamer of Plano. He was ‘Opa’ to five grandchildren, Will and Kara Messer, and Emily, Kristen and Erik Niethamer. Above all he was a good man. He was known for his sweet spirit even after Alzheimer’s progressed. Viewing will be from 4:00-6:00 pm on Wednesday, March 5, 2008 at Restland Cemetery, and the memorial service will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 6, 2008 at First United Methodist Church, Richardson, TX.
