William "Bill" Mitchell's Obituary
Mitchell, William Vernon “Bill”, born May 13, 1922 was called home to be with Jesus on May 13, 2013. Born in Greene County, Indiana to Roy and Maude Mitchell, Bill proudly served in the Navy during WWII on the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise. He has made Garland home since 1951. Being a faithful servant of God, he ministered for years at the First Presbyterian Church in Garland in many ways including as clerk of the session. Always a generous provider, his gift of acumen and talent as a leader were appreciated when employed for 30 years by Texas Instruments. Bill was known and loved for his benevolence, compassion, and most notably his winning sense of humor and ready smile. He made everyone feel special. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Wilhelmine; daughter, Rose Ann; sons, Steve, David, Don; and brother, Tom. Nine grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren continue his legacy of Christian charity. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, May 17, 2013 at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 18, 2013 in Restland Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church in Garland.
