William Marion Newman Jr.'s Obituary
William Marion Newman Jr. passed on to be with His Lord on June 7th, 2012. Bill was born on March 30, 1921 in Dallas, Texas where he lived most of his adult life. Bill graduated from Baylor University where he met Bobbie Jean Shields. Bill and Bobbie were married for 66 years before her passing in 2009. After serving in the Army, Bill joined his father and brothers in the family printing business and over the years held numerous national leadership positions in the industry. But faith and family always came first for Bill. He was a constant in the Men’s Bible Class at Highland Park United Methodist Church and a frequent teacher of other Sunday School Classes. He was a daily role model of faith for his family. He believed in the power of prayer. When life’s challenges bore down on him he would walk around the block, talk to God and count his blessings, returning home with new energy and perspective. He followed the words of the prophet Micah “to do justice, to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God”. Bill loved Colorado and the YMCA of the Rockies. For 40 years he, Bobbie and the boys would vacation at Tundra, the cabin Bobbie and Bill donated to the “Y” in 1964. It became a family tradition that his grandchildren still enjoy. Bill loved his grandchildren and they loved their “Papa”. Bill is survived by his brother Larry, sons Dub and Jay, daughters in law Mollie and Laura, and grandchildren, Courtney, Bonnie, Melanie, Martin and Nicholas. Graveside services will be held at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery on Monday June 11th at 3:00 PM. Donations should be made to the Salesmanship Club of Dallas
