William Cleveland Nolen's Obituary
NOLEN, WILLIAM CLEVELAND (W.C. or BILL) “WC”, as his immediate family knew him, left this world to meet his Lord and reunite with Betty and family in Heaven on May 10, 2010. He was born on February 17, 1924 in Sulligent, Alabama to Grover and Frances Nolen. After some difficult years in Alabama, the family came to Dallas, Texas during the Great Depression in search of greener pastures. Bill graduated from Crozier Tech High School in 1942 and attended night classes in accounting at SMU. On September 5, 1947, he married the love of his life, Betty Sue McIntosh. Soon thereafter, he became a dedicated employee of Mrs. Baird’s Bread and was office manager until his retirement in 1986. “Pop” was a great fan of the University of Texas throughout his adult life. However, he did become an Aggie (part time) when a grandson graduated from TAMU (Class of 2008-WHOOP!). WC dearly loved his family and greatly enjoyed family reunions at their home on Pomona Drive during the holidays! He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty, his parents and five siblings. Survivors include son Mike and wife Cynthia; son Carl and wife Joni; grandchildren, Karen, Raymond, Brad, and Matt; and great grandchildren, Cassidy, Katelyn, and Cash. The family is very grateful to the staff who cared for Bill the past two years at Arbor House in Lewisville, Texas. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, May 12, 2010 at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be held 3:00 PM, Thursday, May 13, 2010 at Restland Wildwood Chapel.
