William Edward Oliver's Obituary
Once in a lifetime some of us are lucky to meet an extraordinary human being that can influence our life in so many positive ways, and that was Bill.William E. Oliver passed peacefully in his sleep on the morning of Tuesday, the 27th of November, 2018.He was a successful business owner for 39 years. He owned American Showroom Concepts and used his talent as a creative interior designer and craftsman to build many showrooms and store projects throughout the country. His main office was located in the Dallas Market Center where he developed friendships which lasted a lifetime with his employees and business associates.“Bill”, as he preferred to be called, was born in Kansas City, Missouri on January 8, 1939 to Raymond William Oliver & Mary Virginia Woolverton from Kansas City, Missouri.Bill attended Prairie Grade School from 1941 – 1949 and Shawnee Mission High from 1949 – 1953, followed by University of Kansas City from 1954 – 1958. While living in Kansas City, he joined the army in 1960 for 2 years and he was a member of the Medical Corp, stationed in Ft. Carson, Colorado. After leaving the military, Bill chose the path of a Police Officer in Overland Park, Kansas in 1964. Successfully and diligently, he became a sergeant and detective during his 13 years of service. Shortly after leaving the police department, he became a realtor in Overland Park, Kansas. The real estate path eventually led Bill down south to Dallas, Texas, where he worked as a realtor in the early 1970’s. He worked for Bill Reed decorations in the late 1970’s. In 1979, Bill decided to start his own design and construction business, which developed into various other businesses which included furniture and fixture rentals, packing and shipping, logistics for trade shows around the country.In 1981, Bill would come to meet Pablo Chavez. It was as if they chose one another. They decided then and there to share their lives together and became inseparable. Traveling the world, spending time with friends & family, every moment was spent cherishing each other and learning from one another.Bill had several hobbies and interests, one of which was a love of water. An avid water skier, he owned many boats and thoroughly enjoyed his time on the beach and scuba diving. Another well known hobby was playing golf, especially a favorite when spent on courses with his brother in law Ray Marcum and reminiscing about the good ole days. He was a craftsman and enjoyed woodworking. From building his own personal furniture to building display props for his business clients, Bill was dedicated to the upmost quality in whatever he produced.He leaves to mourn: his best friend and life partner Pablo Chavez; his sister and brother in law Virginia and Ray Marcum, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.A business man, a friend, a son, a brother, an uncle, a spouse; Bill was someone who filled so many roles and created an abundance of joyful and everlasting memories with everyone who came into contact with him.
