William Stroud Peterson's Obituary
PETERSON, WILLIAM STROUD • 87, was born July 14, 1923 in Austin, Texas, to Maurine Stroud and William Lay Peterson. He was raised in Denison, Texas. After attending Kemper Military Institute in Booneville, Missouri, Peterson entered Southern Methodist University, where he received his BBA degree and was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity and on the SMU tennis team. He engaged in post graduate studies at the University of Houston. During WWII he served as a deck officer on the Battleship USS Colorado and was decorated for his service. In 1953 he was elected as assistant vice-president of First National Bank in Dallas, Texas and was assigned to its correspondent banking department. He joined the Texas National Bank of Commerce in Houston, Texas, as vice-president and was later appointed head of the correspondent banking division. Served as president and CEO of First State Bank of Farmersville for 16 years. He sold the bank and went into business with his son, Curtis Peterson in Palo Alto, California building houses and condos until he retired in 1994. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Jane Anne Wright; his son, Curtis S. Peterson and wife Lea Stublarec of Palo Alto, California, and their two daughters, Hilary and Whitney Peterson; daughter, Leslie Lammlein of Houston, Texas, and her two sons, David and Jack Lammlein. Also survived by stepdaughter, Cheryl Ann Pittera and husband Douglas Hart Pittera, of Fairfield, Connecticut and their three children, Nicole, Richard, and David Pittera; stepson, John Wright Richardson; stepdaughter in law, Barbara Richardson Lange and husband John Lange; and step granddaughter, Mimi Elizabeth Richardson. Preceded in death by stepson, James Douglas Richardson. The family wants to acknowledge Hospice Vista Care for their splendid dedication and concern. Memorial service will be held at Highland Park United Methodist Church, Cox Chapel, on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at 2:00 PM. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church in Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army designated to the recent tornado victims or the Highland Park United Methodist Church.
