Rest in Peace Dr Pulte. I am just now finding out he passed in 2023. I was privileged to work as a program secretary part time for him while earning my undergrad at SMU. Such a dear and wonderful man who helped so many with his stellar grant writing which always got the funding he sought to assist with scholarships for the Masters in Bilingual Education program and endeavors. My sincere love to the family of William Pulte. He was my college professor at SMU. I learned a lot from him to better serve my students. He will be missed by all who knew him. I never met Dr. Pulte, but I very much wanted to. I have been working for years on a dictionary of names, which involves translating names from many languages. I bought a copy of a Cherokee dictionary, and when it arrived and I saw the author's name, I asked my husband, Mike Pulte, if he knew a William Pulte who had written a Cherokee dictionary. Mike said, "Yes, I know him. He's my cousin!" I am so sorry to learn of his passing.
I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Pulte in the Anthropology Department for several years. He was the kindest man, and so likeable. I feel privileged to have known him and am saddened by his passing, I know he is now with his precious wife and enjoying eternity with peace and community with all of his family and friends that have left this earth. God be with all of you, much love Dr. Pulte, may you rest in eternal peace.
We lived on Kilarney Drive just down the street from Dr. Bill. Often times, in the evenings, he and I would be walking our Bichon Frise's at the same time. I confess that many times I would wait until I saw him coming because I so enjoyed our brief visits. He was a kind and gentle man. Since moving away in 2018, my wife and I have many times thought of him and our old neighborhood. This last summer, we lost our beloved pet dog Snowball. I'm sure Snowball was waiting to meet Dr. Bill for a walk when they met again last Monday. We send our condolences and prayers to your family. God bless, Brent and Heather Ashby
