William Gaston Sehnert's Obituary
Born May 13, 1918 in Shreveport, LA to parents Fred Louis Sehnert, Sr. and Lillian Belle Smith Sehnert in Shreveport, LA. Passed away January 22, 2009. William was preceded in death by wife, Clarice Naomi and daughter, Diane Estelle Sehnert Andersen. He graduated from Forest Avenue High School Dallas, in 1934 with Honors. He attended Metropolitan Business College, Dallas, 1935-36. He then joined the U.S. Army Field Artillery, Ft. Sill, September 1941. Served active duty 52 months, discharged 1st Lieutenant, Liaison Pilot and Field Artillery in 1946. William married Clarice Naomi Rayburn on December 31, 1943. He is survived by two sons, William Gaston Sehnert, Jr. and John Peter Sehnert, both of Dallas and sister Sara Louise Griffeth. William was employed for over 38 years by Gould-National Batteries as plant manager and as production manager over 17 plants nationwide. He was also employed with Chloride Battery, Voltmaster Battery and Dorchester Gas Corp, Dallas. He served as a Baptist Deacon at twelve different churches for forty five years and as Bible teacher for some 50 years and was ordained as Deacon Emeritus, March 5, 2006 at Lakeside Baptist Church. Services will be held at 1:00PM, Saturday, January 24, 2009 at Restland Abbey Chapel. Visitation will be from 7-8:30PM, Friday at Restland Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Lakeside Baptist Church, 9150 Garland Rd., Dallas, TX 75218.
