William Purdy Treloar's Obituary
WILLIAM PURDY TRELOAR passed away unexpectedly on May 7, 2016. He was born in New York, NY on December 14, 1923 to Charles Edgar Treloar and Edith Thornton Ripley Treloar. He served his country as a Corporal in WWII in the 224th Army Air Force. When the war was over, he completed his undergraduate degree and PhD in Education from Michigan State University. For most of his career, Bill worked as an Assistant Dean at the College of DuPage in Wheaton, IL. During this time, he met and married the love of his life, Jacqueline, & their son, Roger was born. He lived in Glen Ellyn, IL with his family until he retired from DuPage and moved to Richardson, TX. Bill loved to travel, and loved to plan educational tours to Northern and Southern Europe. Friends and family were very important to him, and he was blessed to get to spend a good deal of time with his family. He loved to read with his granddaughter. She remembers how he would make her laugh & talk in a heavy New York accent. He loved to take his granddaughter out for ice cream and spoil her. Always having been known for his sense of humor, Bill loved to tell jokes. He was quite involved in his Grief Support Group, and these friends were extremely helpful and important to him. He enjoyed playing Texas Lotto and he loved to dance. Bill volunteered at a local retirement center. He enjoyed listening to news talk radio daily. Bill was very proud of and interested in his Treloar heritage, leading back to Cornwall, England. Bill will be sorely missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his son, Roger, daughter-in-law, Laorie, and granddaughter, Sarah, of Richardson, Texas; niece and nephew Pat Treloar Hubert and Wes Treloar and families of Houston, Texas; many in-laws from his wife’s side, and a large number of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and cousins. Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Patricia Alford Treloar and his brothers, Charles Wesley Treloar & Edgar Treloar. Services will be held at 3:00PM, Monday, May 16, 2016 at Restland Abbey Chapel. Visitation will be from 2:00-4:00PM, Sunday, May 15, 2016 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75243.
