William (Bill) Turner Jr.'s Obituary
TURNER JR., WILLIAM (BILL) was born on August 11, 1946 in Tupelo, Mississippi. Passed away April 21, 2014. He was the oldest son of Bill and Ann Casey Turner. Bill fought a courageous battle with 2 Cancers Neuroendocrine (islet) and the reoccurance of head and neck cancer. He never complained; never felt sorry for himself and said instead of “why me”, “why not me”. He was extremely appreciative of his many friends and family who helped him during his final illness. Bill grew up in Dallas graduated from Bryan Adams HS, and East Texas State University and received his Master’s from SMU. He taught in DISD and RISD, was a sales rep for BNA and CCH and most recently was an adjunct professor teaching US history at Richland College. He was an avid tennis player, fisherman and reader. He was an active member of FUMC Richardson. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Mary; father, Bill Turner; children, Jeff and Ashley Turner and Carla and Kenton Getz; eight wonderful grandchildren; his brother, Paul and Janice and his two nephews. Visitation will be from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Tuesday, April 24, 2014 at Restland Funeral Home. . Memorial service will be at First United Methodist Church, Richardson, April 25, 2014 at 2:00 PM. In Lieu of flowers please make donations to KERA radio/NPR and Operation Kindness.
