William Bardwell Varner's Obituary
VARNER, WILLIAM BARDWELL Age 53, of Richardson, Texas passed away peacefully on April 3, 2010 at Baylor Hospital. He was born on May 26, 1956 in Hackensack, New Jersey to his parents, Harold and Joan. William (Bill) was the oldest of five children. He attended Austin College, where he met the love of his life and graduated in 1979 with a degree in Business. He married Susan in San Antonio, Texas on June 6, 1980. They had two children, Catherine and Elizabeth. He was a longtime resident of Richardson, Texas for 30 years and employed by JCPenney as an Assistant Buyer for 25 years. Bill was involved in the Richardson Soccer Association, North Texas Soccer Association, Dallas Cup, and the TOPS Soccer program for over 15 years. He won numerous awards from JCPenney for his ongoing volunteer and community service. Bill was also a member of First United Methodist Church of Richardson. He enjoyed coaching soccer, woodworking, making hand crafted gifts for family and friends, listening to music, and creating personalized CD’s and DVD’s for everyone. Bill will be remembered by his loving wife and their children, his oldest daughter Catherine and her husband Shaun, and his youngest daughter Elizabeth. He is also survived by his father Harold Varner, his siblings Jim, Jeff and wife Paula, Laura and husband Jake, Paul and wife Pam, as well as his nieces Taylor and Claudia, and nephews PJ and Joe. Predeceased in death by his mother Joan Varner. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation for Bill on Friday, April 9, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home, as well as a funeral service for Bill on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at 3:30 PM at Restland Memorial Chapel. A burial ceremony will follow at Restland Memorial Park. In honor of Bill, the family asks that people consider designating themselves as organ donors.
