William Randall Whigham's Obituary
WHIGHAM, WILLIAM RANDALL was born June 24, 1932 in McAllen, TX and passed away November 21, 2011 in Dallas, Texas from complications of Parkinson’s disease. Bill was the son of Hershel Elvis Whigham and Gladys Laverne Devine Whigham. After graduating from McAllen High School, Bill received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas where he played trumpet in the Longhorn Band. He was a devoted Longhorn for the rest of his life. He later was awarded a Master’s and PhD in Bio-Chemistry from Baylor University. Bill spent his professional life as a clinical scientist for several different labs. Bill married Patsy Rhea Gant on Aug 17, 1969. She predeceased him in 2010. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Richardson and the Pathfinder Sunday School class. Bill was as proud as any parent of his toy poodles Bridget and Scarlett. He was an avid tennis player and embarrassed many younger men when they lost to the old guy. In addition to his wife, Bill was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Russell and James. He is survived by his brother Robert Whigham and sister Ann Whigham. He is also survived by nephews Matt Whigham, Brad Palmquist, Isaac Palmquist and niece Jenna Hanzlick,. Also nephew Steve Hollowell and wife Tammy, and niece Susan Kitzrow. Private family services are scheduled for Wednesday, November 23 at Restland Funeral Home in Richardson.
