He was born in Kansas City, Missouri on November 22, 1923. When he was around 12 years old, his family moved to Fort Worth, Texas. He graduated from Pascal High School and was a trumpet player in the high school band.

Bill and his family moved to Dallas in 1965 where he went to work for Wadley Piano Company and later Brook Mays, where he retired after a long and successful career selling pianos and organs.
When he was not working, you could find him on the golf course. He was an avid golfer with a low handicap. In his younger years, he played tennis and loved to dance. He enjoyed playing the piano to entertain his friends and family.
