William Crawford Winton's Obituary
William Crawford Winton was born in Pecan Gap, Texas on July 12, 1920 to Hodge and Clara Gladys Crawford Winton and passed away on March 25, 2010 in Dallas. He graduated from Cameron Jr.College in 1939 and from Oklahoma A & M College in 1941. He married Roberta “Bobbie” Paine in 1941. He served as a pharmacist’s mate in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was stationed in Okinawa. He was an inspector with the Oklahoma State Dept. of Agriculture for over 10 years. He retired from Van Waters & Rogers (Univar) as a chemical salesman in 1985. In 1997 he was commissioned as a Stephen Minister at the First United Methodist Church, Richardson. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years and by his mother. His survivors include two daughters, Pamela Dotson and husband Harrell of Tool; Stacy Mills and husband Don of Plano; three granddaughters, Whitney Pratt and husband K.C. of Corsicana; Amy Ellsberry of Mabank; and Gretchen Darby and husband James of Dallas; two great grandchildren, Jakob Ellsberry of Mabank and Presley Paige Darby of Dallas, and a niece, nephews, and cousins. Crawford’s commitment to Christ and dedication to his church and family were evident throughout his life. His loving spirit and gift of humor and laughter endeared others to him and helped many through their times of grief and sorrow. We want to express a special thank you to his many friends and the staff at Walnut Place in Dallas for their loving care and kindness. Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 30, at Restland Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 31, at Restland Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the First United Methodist Church of Richardson.
