Dr. William Halley Zedlitz's Obituary
ZEDLITZ, DR. WILLIAM HALLEY born in Ballinger, TX on May 5, 1932 to Richard and Frances Zedlitz. Bill was a veteran of the Korean War, enlisting at age 17 after he graduated from high school. It was during this time in the Army that he decided he wanted to become a doctor. He graduated from UT Southwestern Medical School in 1960, completing residency at Parkland Memorial Hospital in 1966 as a surgeon. His early years began at Baylor Hospital but he had a long and distinguished career at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas where he served as Chairman of Surgery and was a member of the medical board. Bill was musically talented playing the french horn in the Army and the violin in a western swing band. His hobbies included woodworking, golfing, fishing and hunting. Most important to Bill were his relationship with God, family and friends. He was an elder at Valley View Christian Church and on the missions committee for many years. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Alfred and Richard and daughter, Elizabeth. He is survived by his loving wife, Pat; daughter, Kristin and husband, Dustin; sister, Virginia; stepdaughter, Connie and husband, Greg; stepsons, Chris and wife, Kathy, Jack and wife, Suzanne; 7 grandchildren: Alan, Steven, John, Kim, Dana, Leah and Brian and 9 great grandchildren. Bill went to be with the Lord on November 20, 2012. A celebration of his life will be at 3:00 PM, Monday, November 26, 2012 at Restland Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Valley View Christian Church, Missions Fund.
