Gene Willis Secrest's Obituary
SECREST, GENE WILLIS, After a courageous fight with Alzheimer’s, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away peacefully this Memorial Day, May 26, 2008. He was born in Sharonville, Ohio on April 15, 1927. He was a shining light to all he met, greatly loved, and will be greatly missed. He was a World War II Veteran serving in the Navy on a LST. Honorably Discharged in 1945, he deeply loved his GOD and Country. Gene was an active member of the First Christian Church in Carrollton, TX for over 40 years, and served as a Deacon and dedicated Sunday School Teacher in earlier years. He settled in Dallas after serving in the military. He worked for Darr Equipment Company for many years, and later worked as a sales associate for Conley-Lott-Nichols Machinery Company until his retirement in 1991. His devoted wife of 57 years, Jane, stayed by his side every moment of his battle. He was loved and adored by his two daughters, Sandra Secrest and Karen Secrest-Carlson, one grandson, Brandon Carlson, of whom he was very proud and his father, Lloyd Carlson. Survived also by 3 brothers and 4 sisters and their extended families in the Cincinnati, Ohio area. Visitation ‘ An open casket viewing will begin at 2:45 pm prior to the Funeral Service on Thursday, May 29, 2008, 3:30 pm at the Memorial Chapel, Restland Funeral Home of Dallas, interment following.
