Wilma Jo Frazier's Obituary
Wilma was born April 26, 1926 in Santa Anna, Texas to Joe Spencer and Gertrude Reavis Spencer and died January 18, 2017 in Dallas, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents Joe and Gertrude Spencer, her husbands Charles Rozzell and Billy Joe Frazier, her son Donald Wayne Rozzell, her siblings Ima Lois Modowell, Floy Smith, and Doris McCombs. She is survived by her daughter Charla Jo Fales, her son-in-law Raymond Paul Fales, her granddaughters Debra Lynne Fales and Christie Nicole Mueller and husband Michael John Mueller, a series of nieces and nephews and her beloved dogs Percy, Rosie and Abbie. From the time of her birth to her death, Wilma Jo was a force to be reckoned with. She quickly earned her nickname Pill from her three older sisters. She graduated from Santa Anna High School in 1942 where she was a Drum Majorette. She soon married the love of her life Charles Rozzell prior to his entering the Army where he served in the invasion of Italy during World War II. After the war, they settled in Brownwood, Texas. In 1947 Charla Jo was born in the same Santa Anna Hospital as Wilma. Charles was called up to serve in the Korean War leaving Wilma with Charla in their Brownwood house. Wilma worked two jobs during this time at Singer Sewing Machines and as a nurse in Brownwood Hospital. Wilma and Charles had their son Donald Wayne in 1952 and moved to a succession of towns in West Texas before settling in Dallas in 1961. Wilma was employed as a secretary and bookkeeper for a series of companies including Howard Wolfe and DeGolyer & MacNaughton. Wilma was widowed in 1984 with the death of Charles. In 1990 she married Billy Joe Frazier of Austin, TX. Billy Joe was co-owner of Austin Bolt Company so Wilma split her time between Austin and Dallas until Billy Joe reduced his involvement in the company and they sold his house in Austin and resided in Dallas full time in 2007. She and Billy Joe were busy with family and church until he became increasingly ill in 2014 when he entered Hospice. Wilma nursed him with the help of Hospice until his death in 2015. Wilma was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and aunt and will be sorely missed. She was lifelong Baptist and a member of Lockwood Baptist Church for many years and recently Calvary Hill Baptist Church. She loved to be with her good friends Merle Lundy, Wilma Green and Katherine Samples She satisfied some of her wander lust by taking a trip to Hawaii and later took her first overseas trip to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to visit her daughter Charla and son-in-law Raymond Fales in 1998. Wilma was a great cook who was famous for her pecan pies, coconut milk cake, peanut brittle, divinity, and millionaire fudge. Wilma always had a soft spot for people in need. She gave to numerous charities who will feel a small drop in donations with her leaving. The celebration of her life will be held at Restland Funeral Home 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas. The family will receive friends on Sunday, January 22, 2017 at Restland from 3:00 to 5:00. The Memorial Service will be held in the Wildwood Chapel in Restland Memorial Park on Monday, January 23, 2017 at 3:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Paralyzed Veterans of America, SPCA or charity of your choice.
