Winnell Bailey Nesbit's Obituary
Winnell Bailey Nesbit, a lifelong resident of the Dallas area, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 13, 2014. Winnell was born on May 8, 1918 to Herbert and Virginia Bailey. She was an honors graduate of Adamson High School. In 1937, she married the love of her life, John S. Nesbit, Jr.. They were a Godly picture of marriage for 63 years until his passing in 2001. Her humble spirit and moral character exemplified the principles of a Proverbs 31 virtuous woman and wife. Her gift of giving resonated throughout every facet of her life! Whether it was holding down the home when her husband was wounded in WWII, her handiwork sewing all her daughter’s clothing, organizing events or meals, knitting afghans or creating needlepoint treasures, Winnell joyfully placed the needs of others first and sought out opportunities to share her beautiful gift. At her center, was her devotion to the Lord. Whatever needs arose with any of her immediate family, friends in her neighborhood in East Dallas, Star Harbor at Cedar Creek Lake or her family at 1st United Methodist Church Malakoff, she considered it an honor to share her God-given gift. Winnell is survived by her only child and loving daughter/caretaker, Linda Kay Brown; grandson and wife, Jason and Cyndi Brown; granddaughter and husband, Jennifer and Craig Cain; great-grandsons, Layton and Parker Brown and Jacob and Luke Sherlock. Like her knitting, she was a consistent thread holding our family together. Visitation for Winnell Nesbit will be from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM, Friday, September 19, 2014 followed by a graveside service at 2:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the charity of your choice. Proverbs 31:10-31. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75238.
