Wylodene Weatherford's Obituary
Wylodene Boles Weatherford, 92, passed away March 11, 2020 in Decatur, Texas. Wylodene was born September 30, 1927 in Ringling, Oklahoma to Basil Cache Boles and Gladys Leona Paulk.
Services will be held at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243
Visitation will be Sunday March 15th, 6:00-8:00pm
Funeral Service will be Monday March 16th, 11:00am
Wylodene spent her first 10 years in Oklahoma before her family moved to Scurry, Texas in 1937. She graduated from Scurry-Rosser at the age of 16 and went on to attend North Texas State Teachers College (now UNT) in Denton. She attained a teaching certificate by age 17 and taught school for a short time where they held her first paycheck until her 18th birthday.
On June 18th, 1949 she married Harry Huey Weatherford. The couple had two daughters, Karon Dene and Carla Jo. In August 1950 she went to work for Dallas County where she worked in several departments until she landed in the Elections department in 1963. This would become her favorite job where she would stay until retirement. She worked a total of 58 years for Dallas County.
Wylodene and Harry loved to hunt and camp, especially in Colorado. She loved working crossword puzzles and playing the domino game “42”. After the loss of her beloved husband in 1983; she moved in with her daughter and son-in-law where she enjoyed traveling with family & friends to places like Alaska, Hawaii, Disneyland, Disneyworld and Scotland. She enjoyed going with Carla & Charles to horse shows, conventions and competitive trail rides. Everyone in camp called her mom and she was very disappointed when, at age 90, she couldn’t go any more.
Wylodene was active for years in the Eastern Star when Harry was active in the Masonic Lodge. She was also a Charter Member of The Woods United Methodist Church and Texas Arabian Distance Riders Association. She was also a member of the Arabian Horse Association. She has been a member of First United Methodist Church of Decatur the past 6 years.
She is preceded in death by her husband Harry, granddaughter Karon Michelle Garrett, brother Kenneth Younce Boles, and sister Marie Boles.
She is survived by daughters Karon Dene Larison (husband Frank) of Lewisville, TX, Carla Jo Bass (husband Charles) of Sunset, TX. A step-son Harry Huey Weatherford Jr (wife Carol) of Huntsville, TX, and step-daughter Jerry Lee Heibel of Lubbock, TX. She is also survived by brothers Charles Monroe Boles (wife Clara) of Ft. Worth, TX, James Levi Boles (wife Bonnie) of Celina, TX, Francis Odell Boles of Red Oak, TX. Her grandchildren are Jennifer Leona Johnson (husband Clint) of St. Petersburg, FL, Toni Elizabeth Scott (husband Ian) of Justin, TX, Katherine Susan Vorce of Chesnee, SC, Michael Coleman (Bubba) Garrett of Lewisville, TX. Step-grandchildren Tara Marie Menard (husband Danny) of Iola, TX, Charles Brian Bass (wife Jen) of Cedar Park, TX, Lanessa Dawn Malmberg (husband Eric) of Katy, TX. She is also survived by three step-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
