Yan Jie's Obituary
Yan Jie was born on April 10, 1962 in Beijing, China, to Yan Wei and Li Xiufang. She is the eldest of two daughters. Her younger sister is Yan Ying. She grew up, attended high school and college, all in Beijing. As a young adult, she worked for an institute of architectural design. Yan Jie met her husband, Fan Jinlin through her cousin in mid-1986, fell in love with each other and were married just a year and a half later. In 1989, her son Fan Siyao was born. Later that year, her husband came to the United States to pursue further studies in Economics at Southern Methodist University. Six months later, she would follow in his footsteps, thus establishing their home in Dallas. While her husband was in school, she worked a series of miscellaneous jobs to support her family before ultimately ending up at Prime Art and Jewel in 1992, to which she would devote her entire career. Three years later, her family would become complete with the birth of her daughter, Audrey Fan.Throughout all the different stages in her life, from moving homes and seeing her kids leave for college, and everything in between, the memories are countless and cherished. She enjoyed trying new restaurants, playing cards with friends, hosting parties with delicious dishes, watching movies, tending to her plants, playing with her dogs Rosie and Penny, and planning trips with her family. All her life, Yan Jie fulfilled every role with the utmost grace, strength, dedication and never a complaint. She greeted every opportunity in life, whether good or bad with her infectious spirit and smile that lit up the room. She was the most devoted wife, caring mother, attentive daughter, and beloved friend and colleague. She will be dearly missed by all of us but she lives on through everyone who was lucky enough to know her.During this tremendously difficult time, many of you have offered to contribute to her memory.
