Yin Sheng Kuo's Obituary
Yin Sheng “Arthur” Kuo, 60, of Plano, Texas, died Sunday, Feb. 22, after a year-long battle against pancreatic cancer. Arthur was born June 17, 1954, in Taipei, Taiwan, to Jen and Chang Chiang Kuo. In 1977, Arthur graduated from National Cheng Kung University in Tainan City, Taiwan, with a degree in civil engineering. He then served two years in the Taiwanese military in the Corps of Engineers, before furthering his studies in the United States. He received his Master of Science in civil engineering from the University of New Mexico in 1981. Shortly after, Arthur began what would be a long and far-reaching career as a project control engineer with ARCO Pipeline in Independence, Kansas. His work took him around the world to places, such as Indonesia, Australia, Ecuador, Japan and China. Throughout his career, he was highly regarded and respected for his leadership and infectious sense of humor and camaraderie. He had a knack for making friends wherever he went and keeping them through the years. He was an avid golfer, a film lover and a classic rock enthusiast (and occasional performer). Arthur is survived by his wife, Jenny Chieh Dunn; daughters, Emily and Stephanie; son-in-law, Graham van Ginkel; granddaughter, Elizabeth “Ellie” van Ginkel; father, Jen Kuo; and brother, Johnson Kuo. He was preceded in death by his mother, Chang Chiang Kuo. A memorial service for Yin Kuo will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home.
