Yoksan Ung's Obituary
Mr. Yoksan Ung was born in Koki Kiensvay, Kandal, Cambodia on January 6, 1932 where he began his incredible journey through life that spanned over 80 years and two continents. Yoksan was the second eldest child of Mrs. Orlean Chou and Mr. Hokleng Ung. He had six brothers and eight sisters. He was very close to his family while growing up, and it was these values that he instilled onto his own children. In 1962, at the age of 31, he married his beautiful bride, Ms. Sambor Yong, in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. Together they had six children; five sons and one daughter. In 1979, after surviving the Khmer Rouge regime for four years, Yoksan guided his whole family out of war-torn Cambodia to a refugee camp in Thailand where soon after he introduced his family to Jesus Christ. In 1982, he immigrated with his entire family to the United States where they eventually settled in north Texas. Yoksan lived a life characterized by dedication to family. He was a unique man who loved knowledge and never stopped learning. Yoksan was a very modern man that kept himself current with world news, technology and politics. On January 28, 2016, at the age of 84 and after a courageous battle with cancer, while being surrounded by his loved ones, Yoksan peacefully passed away into the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Mr. Yoksan Ung is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mrs. Sambor Ung, son Wattana and wife Chamnan, son Synara and wife Kachana, daughter Rasy and husband Nick, son Rathy and wife Yvorn, son Wanaro and wife Thida, and son Dyna. Twelve grandchildren Angelina, Chance, Aneka, Anelise, Anebelle, Chrissy, Kalvin, Ethan, Jolie, Ryan, Christopher, and Lauren. Ten siblings Yoksiv, Siengheng, Sorady, Earnest, Yvonne, Porheng, Robert, Malise, Porsan, and Pochea. Family will receive friends on Friday, February 5, 2016 from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. Service will be held Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 10:00 AM in The Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
