Zane Byrd's Obituary
Zane Grayson Byrd passed away unexpectedly October 22, 2022, at the young age of 17.
Zane was born in The Woodlands, Texas on May 24, 2005. His proud parents are Kelly Byrd and Ed Jenkins. Zane attended Highland Park High School starting in 2020. Prior to arriving in the Dallas area, Zane resided in the Texas Hill Country near San Antonio. Outside of Texas, Zane attended grade schools in Boston, Massachusetts and Yorba Linda, California.
It was in California, where Zane began playing one of his favorite sports, lacrosse. He was known for being a fierce competitor and most recently, an exceptional team captain. Zane shared his passion for lacrosse while mentoring others and would never turn down a coaches request to play a new position. Zane also played baseball during elementary school as well as football while in junior high.
When he wasn’t on the lacrosse field, Zane enjoyed his time with his friends. He also loved being outdoors where he could quietly fish and spend time with his dad or grandparents. He was a great hiker and spent a lot of time at Crystal Cove beach in California with his mom and sister Daphne. Zane loved to dance and was a caring and selfless soul.
Zane is survived by his parents, Ed and Kelly; sisters Daphne and Bekah; sister Lauren and family; brother John; as well as his grandparents, extended family, friends, mentors, and coaches he touched during his short life, who loved him dearly and helped him become the person he was.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Sunday, November 6, 2022, at 10:00am at the Memorial Chapel, located at Restland Funeral Home - 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, Texas 75243.
