Mrs. Zella Kate McLarnon's Obituary
Zella Kate Banks was born March 16, 1923 in Alto, Texas. She was the daughter of Ruben & Bessie Banks. The family moved to Rusk where she was raised and graduated high school. She later attended Stephen F. Austin University, and she moved to Dallas in 1948. She married Richard P. McLarnon on May 5, 1951. Left with treasured memories are countless loved ones, including her husband, Rich; son Mark McLarnon & wife Kathleen; daughter Margaret Townsend; grandchildren: Emily & husband Clint Long, Zack & wife Jenny McLarnon, Barrett & Adrian Townsend, Caleb, Noah & Esther McLarnon; great grandchildren: Georgia, Fin & Larnon Long; and close extended family: Bob & Martha Banks, Judy Ramey, Kret Townsend & Vickie Garelis. Proceeded in death by her parents and siblings: Lucille Graham, Felton, Lewis & Elbert Banks. She was by Rich’s side in the following endeavors; they were an instrumental part in moving The Heights Church to the Renner location, building churches in Bolgaria, involved in Richardson Methodist Cancer Center, Vogel Alcove, Family Gateway, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes & numerous other ministries. She also served as first lady when Rich was mayor of Lakeway, Texas. She loved her Bible studies & so many things about her life. She enjoyed her daily crossword puzzles, had a reputation for being a word wiz & she loved staying current with fashion & style. She always made time for her family & friends and Kate loved and admired her husband of 60 years. Happiest when surrounded by her family, she was a loving, beautiful, Child of God. Kate McLarnon passed away Thursday July 14, 2011. Visitation will be held at 1:00 pm & the funeral will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, July 16, 2011 at The Heights Baptist Church in Richardson, Texas. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
