AJ was a great friend for the decades that we spent together in social environments and, especially, on golf courses around Texas and elsewhere. He was also generous in ways that were not widely known. I have numerous examples but I'll share only one. Around 1996, my brother, a board member at Jarvis Christian College, called me for help. He was $1000 short on his fundraising commitment and asked if I could get my golf buddies to help. I sent out an email to my golf club. The next day I got a call from AJ telling me he had it covered. Two days later he gave me a check for the full amount. Rest in peace my friend. Malthus Northcutt
