A. J. Moore's Obituary
A.J. Moore, Jr. was born on November 21, 1941 in Beaumont, Texas, the second child of Alex and Cora Moore. He graduated from Hebert High School, class of 1960. Upon graduation, A.J. served in the United States Air Force from 1960 to 1964, after which, he attended St Mary’s University of San Antonio, Texas. A.J. graduated from St. Mary’s in 1968 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. A.J. began his professional career with Exxon as Marketing and Recruiting Manager from 1969 through 1973. He then enjoyed a long and successful professional career at Xerox Corporation from 1973 through 2004. An exceptional leader, A.J. held senior positions in Sales, Sales Management and Human Resources, retiring from Xerox after 32 years of service. Hunting and golfing were among A.J.’s favorite pastimes. From a very early age, he loved going duck hunting with his dad. By his teen years he had become an excellent marksman. A.J. continued hunting for many years until he was introduced to the game of golf in the mid-1980’s. Golf then became his passion. A.J. loved the comradery and competition of playing and traveling with his golf “buddies” for many years. A.J. is preceded in death by his parents, Alex and Cora Moore; brother, William Sam; two nephews, Keith Sam and Ian Skyler White; and niece, Deborah Carson. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife of 30 years, Mary; son, Alex III, of Dallas; sister, Ila Merle Sam of Beaumont, Texas; brother, James White (Phyllis) of Kansas City, Kansas; nephew, Kenneth Sam (Vicki) of Redwood City, California; sister-in-law, Yvonne Sam of California; niece, Devre White of Houston, Texas; grandson, Alex Moore IV of Wylie, Texas; great nieces, Katherine Sam of Redwood City, California, Dr. Rene Williams and Erica Williams both of California; great-nephews, Keith Sam II of Beaumont, Texas and William Carson III of California; cousin, Wayne Campbell (Betty) of Houston, Texas; and many, many dear and loving friends. The visitation for A. J. will be held on Sunday, February 8, 2015 at Restland Funeral Home from 4:00pm-6:00pm. The service for A. J. will be held on Monday, February 9, 2015 at The Wildwood Chapel, Restland Funeral Home.
